So What’s a Sportsbook, Really?

On NinjaBet.com the matched betting tools carry 16 sportsbooks and prediction markets across 21 states today: 15 sportsbooks plus ProphetX, the prediction market you cover bets on. How many you get depends on your state, from 6 in Vermont and Wyoming to 13 in Ohio. The full list, with a page for each state, is on Sportsbooks and comes straight from the tools. The free account uses two of them; Premium unlocks every sportsbook in your state.

The last row counts each sportsbook once, even when it operates in many states. A sportsbook is counted when its odds reached the tools in the last seven days: if its site is down for maintenance for a few hours it stays on the list, and if its feed has been down for more than a week it drops off until the odds come back. That is why the number can move a little from month to month, and the Sportsbooks page always shows today's.

Why does the list change from state to state?

Sportsbooks are licensed state by state, so each state has its own set, and you must be physically located in a state where a sportsbook is licensed when you bet (geolocation is enforced). ProphetX is different: it is a peer-to-peer prediction market registered with the federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a designated contract market, not a state-licensed sportsbook, which is why it appears in every state in the table. The status of every state, checked on official sources, is in Is matched betting legal in the US?.

The tools follow the state you pick in the state selector at the top of the page. If you move, change it there and you will see the new state's sportsbooks and its free offer.

Which sportsbooks are they, and where do I see my state's list?

On Sportsbooks you see every sportsbook and prediction market in the tools, each with its logo, and the State filter keeps only yours. ProphetX carries the Prediction market badge. Every state also has its own page, for example New Jersey, Ohio or Pennsylvania, with the number of sportsbooks, the two the free version uses and the welcome promos available there.

We do not repeat the list in this article on purpose: the Sportsbooks page reads it from the tools in real time, while an article stays as of the day it was written. To check a single sportsbook quickly, you can also ask Ask AI in the Support button, which reads the same list.

How do you cover a bet without lay betting?

US sportsbooks do not offer lay bets, so every offer is completed back-back: you back one outcome at the sportsbook and the opposite outcome of a 2-way market (moneyline, spread or totals) on ProphetX or at a second sportsbook. The Dutcher compares the prices across the sportsbooks of your state and ProphetX and computes both stakes. The guide How to use ProphetX covers orders, fees and partial fills, and Which US states does NinjaBet support? explains the back-back method.

Why do more sportsbooks help?

Every sportsbook has its own welcome promo and its own recurring promos, so the more sportsbooks the tools carry in your state, the more offers you can complete with a calculated cover. More prices to compare also make it easier to find a close match, which means a cover that costs little. The offers for your state, each with a step-by-step guide, are on welcome offers and recurring offers.

What you make depends on how many offers you complete and how you complete them: each offer card shows the expected profit of that offer, an estimate rather than a promise. If you are new, start with Matched betting in the US.

What is the difference between the free version and Premium?

With the free account, the free Dutcher works only with the two names of the free welcome offer: the state page lists them under In the free version. Matched Betting Premium unlocks every sportsbook in your state and every offer with its guide. The full comparison is in What is included in the free account and what does Premium add?; the plans are on Premium.

What if a sportsbook is missing, or you no longer use it?

  • A sportsbook you do not see on the list: its odds are not in the tools today. If you would like us to add it, write to us from the Support button, Contact tab, with the sportsbook's name, website and your state. We review every request, but we cannot promise that it will be added or when.
  • A sportsbook on the list with no odds in a tool: usually its site is under maintenance or our feed has stopped. See A sportsbook's odds are missing from the tools — what can I do?.
  • A sportsbook you can no longer use, for example after a limited or closed account: in My Account → Settings → Sportsbooks, set its switch to Off under Active sportsbooks and click Save. Its odds disappear from every tool and its offers from your lists. The last prediction market cannot be switched off, because the tools need at least one.

Frequently asked questions

How many sportsbooks does NinjaBet have?

As of October 1, 2026, 16 sportsbooks and prediction markets across 21 states. Today's number is always at the top of the Sportsbooks page.

Is my sportsbook included?

Look for it on your state's page, or ask Ask AI in the Support button: the assistant reads the same list as the tools and answers for the state you have selected.

Can I use a sportsbook that is not in the tools?

Yes, with the Calculator: enter both prices by hand, in American odds, and it gives you the stake for the cover. In the Bet Tracker you can add it as a custom sportsbook.

Why don't I have the same sportsbooks as someone in another state?

Because each sportsbook is licensed only in some states and the tools follow the state you have selected. Bet only with sportsbooks licensed in the state you are in.

Does the free version include every sportsbook?

No: it uses the two names of the free welcome offer. Premium unlocks them all.
